The Goal of My Heart ( an old poem)

Branches, trunks, roots,
all tangled washed ashore
I am a piece broken off
Ready to drift off to sea
Off to my God

I remember how you abandoned me
But He never abandons me
Even if I am an island.

Even in the death and decaying leaf matter,
you left me;
Life lives beneath the roots
Life lives in me
Despite thee
In the me that never gives in
The hope that stays afloat
I find me
I lose you
I find God
For you
For the blue of the sky, I die.

I am a seahorse holding on to a seastar
in the midst of a violent storm
Off to the goal of my silent heart:
His holy tender heart.
